How the Launch Budget Calculator works
Sellers who budget only for inventory run out of money before the product ranks. A realistic launch budget covers the goods and getting them to Amazon, the one-off costs of packaging design, inspection, samples and photography, and the advertising it takes to get the first reviews and sales.
This calculator totals it all, shows the cost per unit, and highlights how the budget is split.
Formula
- Inventory & landing = Units × Unit cost + Shipping + Duties + Packaging + Prep
- One-off costs = Inspection + Samples + Photography + Design + Misc
- Total startup investment = Inventory & landing + One-off costs + Launch PPC
- Cost per unit = Total ÷ Units
Example
A typical small private label launch: about $7,275 total, $14.55 per unit all-in, with roughly 21% going to launch PPC.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to start Amazon FBA?
Most private label launches run $5,000–15,000 for the first order plus launch costs. Arbitrage and wholesale can start far smaller because there are no creative or PPC-heavy launch costs.
What is usually forgotten?
Duties, inspection, the reorder, and 2–3 months of PPC. Also currency spread on supplier payments (1–3%).
