Every day between paying the deposit and units being sellable is lead time. Splitting it into segments shows where a faster option (air, express customs) would help.
Formula
- Total lead time = Production + Transit + Customs + Receiving + Buffer
- Order-by date = Target landing date − Total lead time
Example
80 days total; order by mid-August for a November landing.
