How the CPC Calculator works

Cost per click is what you actually paid per click after Amazon's second-price auction, usually below your bid. Click-through rate tells you how relevant your ad and listing look to shoppers.

Together they show where waste comes from: a high CPC means expensive keywords; a low CTR means the ad is shown to the wrong people or the listing thumbnail does not earn the click.

Formula

  • CPC = Ad spend ÷ Clicks
  • CTR = Clicks ÷ Impressions × 100
  • CPM = Ad spend ÷ Impressions × 1,000

Example

$0.78 per click at 0.4% CTR, about 82% of a $0.95 max CPC.

Frequently asked questions

What is a normal Amazon CPC?

It varies by category from about $0.30 to over $3. What matters is whether it is below your maximum CPC (price × conversion rate × target ACoS).

How do I lower CPC?

Better CTR and conversion improve your ad relevance, which lowers what you pay for the same placement. Also shift to long-tail exact-match keywords.
